Black and White Capital

A bit more photo news. I’ve been approached about submitting some work to a website specialising in Black and White photos of London – appropriately titled blackandwhitecapital.com.

I’ve put together a contact sheet and just need to agree the images to submit. Would be nice if some of these things could start generating a bit of income so I could afford some more lenses which would in turn help me generate some more work hopefully.

001 – Nat « Portrait Project

Finally I’ve plucked up the courage to shoot my first portrait. So 001 in a series of many hopefully is my good friend Nat. I stupidly forgot my reflector disc which I had bought specifically for the job, so a bit of flash to the left but I don’t think it really did anything. Never shot in such bright day light and had trouble balancing the ambient with the fill. I also felt a bit rushed but it all and under pressure from someone sitting for me. Never done anything like this before. Hopefully it’ll be a useful learning experience.

Anyway, here it is. Nat in his garden at home in Bristol.

RIBA Pix

68 of my images are now for sale at the RIBA pictures library which I’m pretty pleased about. Hopefully I’ll have some more up there soon but it’s a good start for now. My images can be found by searching for “Andy Matthews” it’ll return all of my images hopefully.

This is mindblowingly incredible! The good stuff starts at 2mins 50 secs.

CSS hell

I usually think I’m fairly clued up when it comes to web/IT stuff but sorting out the look of my portfolio site really wasn’t as easy as I thought. However after a lot of googling and a fair few trips to the support forums it’s finally how I want it! Unfortunately I started editing it at around 10pm… at 3am I went to bed. I just couldn’t let it rest!

Edit: Updated the image to on the top left and done a bit more house keeping.

How to dry your hands

How to dry your hands, originally uploaded by Moff.

• Shake excess water from hands
• Push button and release
• Rub hands lightly and rapidly
• Dryer stops automatically

Missing…

• Rub hands down back of trousers, just under the pockets, maybe a bit on your bum, anywhere that won’t look like you’ve maybe wet yourself.
• Leave lavatory wishing someone would make a decent hand dryer, if you have ever seen a Dyson Airblade
• Leave lavatory thinking the establishment is cheap for not having Dyson Airblades
• Ponder the genius of James Dyson

Or…

• Rub nipples
• Use two fingers if large
• Gesticulate positively toward hair

Or…

• Poke fingers down throat
• Catch bacon

Cross Processing

Finally decided to pop a roll of slide film through the LCA the other day. Whilst using a hipster camera I thought it best to give it the full hipster treatment – cross processing!

Anyway, all a bit green with highly enhanced contrast.

A few more Olympus shots

Another film back from Genie Imaging which I’ve only just got round to scanning. Most of these are from Christmas time I think. Kodak T-Max 400 through the Olympus OM-20.

Open Mac surgery.

Had to replace the hard drive in Emma’s laptop today. A rather involved process to be honest and kind of unsettling seeing all of the guts lying on the coffee table. Anyway, it seems to work when I screwed it all back together. Need to get a RAM upgrade to install 10.6 though which is annoying.
