I’ve been following this series of photographs via the photographer’s Twitter feed and love the feel of all of these shots. I really admire the ability to stop someone in the street and ask if you can take their picture. Something I’m not sure I could do. There’s a lovely quality to these which I think is in part due to them being shot on film rather than digital.
At home today after working some silly hours this week for a pre Stage E coordination deadline. Feeling a bit better after a good old sleep this morning. Going through some shots from the last few weekends and processing and sending to Flickr. Might try and get into the habit of updating this site again soon. IN the meantime coffee and a stroll beckons.
Going all minimal again. Nice to be using the camera in hand and without a tripod for a bit.
I can’t remember who said that but it’s certainly sound advice. Advice which I’ve taken with the purchase of a limited edition print from Simon Kennedy. He’s completed an amazing series of images from the Heygate estate in South London. Unfortunately I missed the exhibition but I’m very pleased to have one of the A1 sized prints from the series hanging in our living room.
Over the last few weeks I’ve become totally addicted to the latest photo sharing app – Instagram. I love the simplicity of it and the basic, but good, social features of it. It’s far from high quality stuff but as a famous photographer once said “The best camera is the one that’s with you“. Whilst that quote also came with an App (BestCam), it didn’t really take off as well as this one has. I think this was mainly due to it being too complicated by adding so many different filters to each image. This is far simpler, shoot, choose the look, share. Certainly no replacement for that big bag of expensive camera kit but great fun regardless.
I’ve been sharing them on Twitter and Facebook whilst avoiding uploading them to Flickr at all. So instead I’ve put together a quick Tumblr page where I’m going to collect them all.
Edit: Turns out (see comments and thanks to whatsinyourbedroom) that some clever web developer already thought of this idea, creating a site called instagrid.me. Might be a better idea to use this seeing as Tumblr’s uptime is so poor
That’s the sound of our new car. Amazing! Doesn’t leak, has air conditioning, these things that put the windows up and down automatically, a little bleeper on the key and you can even talk to each other without shouting. Crazy. Hoping to use it for some biking trips soon as well as seeing our respective folks in Bath & Cambridge.
The last few weeks or even months have been mental workwise. I’ve been working long hours and also working at the weekend and evenings on photography work which included putting a small exhibition up in the local pub. I’ve still not managed to ride my mountainbike but I’m hoping that will change soon.
Today I was keen to use my camera again and not on a tripod! I glanced through my Lightroom Catalogue earlier and couldn’t see a single image that was a personal one. So, off came the shift lens and battery grip, on with the 50mm ƒ1.8 and out we went. Nice to travel light for a change not feel the pressure of having to deliver images for a client. We only went around Peckham Park to get some fresh air and a coffee but it was great to get out for a bit. Naturally we ended up in The Gowlett for a pint of Guinness or two.
Been meaning to post this for a while as it’s been doing the rounds on the net. Something incredible about this. Watch it and then watch the behind the scenes cut after.
