Muddy Surrey Hills video

Nicely shot video of people having fun on the Surrey Hills. Recognise a fair few of them and think I’ll be going back soon to ride them. Nothing super crazy but just people having fun on bike in the mud and the rain and that’s gotta be good.

Makes me want to go and ride right now. Shame the creators don’t allow embedding on Blogs though. Click on the image below to take to the video.

Madonna – Super Bowl half time

Now there’s been a lot of controversy about this I believe, but I’m not really about to comment on that (or that interested really). My attention was drawn to this via Lawrence on Twitter last night as Emma and I got back from a drink at the pub. She seemed to think it was a good idea to watch it so we did. What a performance! It’s so unbelievably over the top it hurts. The sight of a 54 year old woman dancing around the stage looking absolutely amazing is incredible and puts every other female singer out there to shame (Ga Ga etc).

Anyway, if you haven’t seen it yet.. sit back and enjoy it.

Oh and the closing scene is so cheesy it hurt.

Looking out of the bus window – A view on London

I never used to be a bus person until someone taught me the error of my ways (when not on my bike of course). Always the top deck, always the left hand window seat, always looking around and seeing what’s going on – silently observing the world going on below you.

This experience is perfectly summarised by the below video (via Michal Dzierza). The child playing, the guy arguing on the phone with someone, the accident that everyone cranes their neck for, road works, cyclists, tourists, landmarks, the crazy guy, the gaggle of school kids – it’s all there. Beautifully shot & edited from 30 hours of footage. A lovely feel to it – watch in HD!

A murmuration of starlings

I’m sure everyone has seen this video by now but if not it’s well worth watching. Incredibly beautiful and also somehow strangely ominous that the forms the birds make whilst swarming – not sure if that’s the right term. Out of my field of expertise here.

Film star montages / Supercuts

A chat with Aleks on Sat reminded me of a few of these montages. Worth watching all three. I think the Tom Cruise running is the best. Once you’ve seen these I don’t think you can take this lot seriously again.

Tom Cruise – Running

Harrison Ford – My wife my family

And finally, Nicholas Cage – Losing his shit.

Got any more?

Lawrence reminded me of these two in the comments…

Siri

The demo for the new seemingly supercomputer like technology in the new iPhone 4S looks pretty incredible. Whether we’ll all start talking to our phones is another matter but the demo is nonetheless impressive. Set an alarm for 30mins, what’s the weather like in X, text my girlfriend to say I’ll be late. Bonkers stuff that it works at all.

However with all these things there’s got to be a downside for us simple humans. I showed the demo to a guy at work who sent me this in response. He’s got a point.

Now I’m a total sucker for timelapse videos but I love seeing a nice bit of engineering going on too. Love it, especially that quality from this enormous site lights.

Making a website in a day – Timelapse

A great little video created by Lawrence at With Associates. Love the end frame of turning the lights off.

Not sure what this is all about? Have a look at my other blog for the full explanation. I promise to stop talking about this project now.
