Had today off preparing for a rather early start tomorrow. Off to get a 7.45am ferry from Dover to head down to Les Arcs again. Going to spend the first part of the week there then head down to Chamonix for the rest of the week. Just remembered that we first went to Les Arcs in 2004 a few months after I’d finished my Diploma. All the photos from that trip were on the old site. I’ve dug around in iPhoto and found some of them. Here’s a few of my faves. The riding and photography has improved a great deal since then!
Popped out for some errands this morning and saw this beauty of a bike! Alfine hub on the back and a fairly sizable container on the front. Apparently they also come with a flat deck if you want. Got talking to the guy for a bit and he said the company operates two of them. Apparently they’re still quite nippy. Would love to have a go on one.
It was a sad day yesterday. I cancelled the car insurance, cleared out my Mum’s garage, reversed Daisy in, grabbed the tax disc on the way out and shut the door. I used to use her lots, away most weekends, back to Bath and generally nipping around. But recently I’ve started to use her less and less. She costs a fair bit too, £50 a month, £200 a year Car Tax and then the MOT and Diesel. It’s a shame but I’m taking her off the road for a while to see how I get on without a car. I’ve signed up to Street Car so I can use a car when I need it but I don’t see when I will yet. I know plenty of people who have cars and can always borrow the one from work.
She’s served me well. 30,000 miles, a trip to Les Arcs one year and countless muddy bikes in the bike. Daisy, we salute you!
Not long now til we’re back out in France again!
Another weekend away in Wales to Ceod-Y-Brenin and Coed-Llagedla which was incredible. Superb dry trails and all running as fast as I’ve ever ridden there.
