This man fixed my camera

This is Roger Lean. He fixed* my Lomo LC-A for the very reasonable price of £40 including recorded postage back. I found out about him via Flickr and there’s lots of very happy people on out there who have had theirs repaired too.

*I use the word “fixed” when actually it was stripped right down and every part checked, lubed, tightened and all put together again, not just the bit that had gone wrong.

If you need your Lomo LC-A fixed then give him a call!

Private Public Space

This is a topic that’s very close to my heart after writing my dissertation on the privatisation of public space (amongst other things).

A great little project from the guys at www.spacehijackers.org.

“Hey you, stop smoking”
“You slow down, No Running”
“No Cycling”
“No mobile phones please sir”
“Oi, you two, further apart please, No Petting”
“Oi Son, take that hood down”
“You keep moving, you’re loitering”
It seemed everyone was doing something wrong.

Pull up!

Oh dear. Not sure what ‘marmalise’ means but hilarious to watch anyway.

Bit more uplift on the bars required perhaps.

Photographer NOT a Terrorist

I’ve been following this issue closely for the last few days – mainly via updates from various photographers on Twitter. There seems to have been a fair few reported incidents this week of photographers being harassed by police even after the recently issued guidance to Police and PCSOs.

The good people at PhotographerNotaTerrorist.org have set up a protest for January 23rd. I will definately be going. More details on their blog.

Robot love

Sometimes there’s nothing cooler than a robot, especially when it’s a 6 storey high one in Tokyo! Few more images on the Flickr blog.

One thousand portraits

Stumbled over this set of images on Flickr earlier. A brilliant idea and all shot with film too. Some of the colours are cracking. The portraits are just great. Must have taken a long time and a lot of confidence to go out and get all these! A summary of the project from the Flickr stream below…

Our project is a true portrait of Britain created by photographing 1,000 people.
We stopped everyone who crossed our path on the streets of London, excluding nobody, asking the same question more than fifteen hundred times.
In a moment where recession is the main subject of every discussion, it was striking to come across such positive attitude.
This is the true face of Britain.
