I’ve been following this issue closely for the last few days – mainly via updates from various photographers on Twitter. There seems to have been a fair few reported incidents this week of photographers being harassed by police even after the recently issued guidance to Police and PCSOs.
The good people at PhotographerNotaTerrorist.org have set up a protest for January 23rd. I will definately be going. More details on their blog.
The 365 project is almost finished so time to start thinking about what next. Well I’ve been thinking that I’d like to record some of the people in my life and try and improve my photography at the same time. So for 2010 I’m going to record my friends and family in their favourite or most relaxing of places. I’ll explain the brief a bit more shortly but for now I’ve started a basic site.
These are only demo shots at the moment and will be replaced once I’ve started the photos. The important thing is that it’s not time limited, it won’t be for just 2010. Hopefully this will be a bit more creative and less time consuming. Got lots of ideas of people and places to shoot but I think it’s going to have to come down to the person defining their own place or setting.
Whilst I am still on my quest to find the perfect rangefinder/mini DLSR/compact camera I found a link to the video below describing the new Ricoh GXR. It takes a rather unique approach to the format by having the sensor in the interchangeable lens.
Anyway, what was even more surprising was to see Ben Stevens a friend from Portsmouth Uni presenting the video.
This morning Vaughan and I headed down to Brighton to meet Chrissy Boy, Joe and Stu to explore some of the trails down that part of the world. Rather than heading West up to Devil’s Dyke as I’d done before we went East up over the downs and explored a load of trails that way. Such a beautiful day and great to be riding in just a base layer and shorts.
Some great trails were had although there was a lot of climbing involved. Not something that I was prepared for really seeing as it’s been a few months since I rode my mountainbike last. The daily commute doesn’t really seem to prepare you for this. London is relatively flat after all. Also my skills on a bike seemed to have completely disappeared and I chickened out of some tiny drops at the start. Seemed to get it back a bit later though. More practice required!
So after heading out on a fairly sizeable circuit and exploring some of the trails we headed back to Wild Park to have a bit of a play on some of the North Shore. It’s been improved massively since the last time I was there – the weather was also much better too!
A few more photos on Flickr as usual here in slideshow format.
Not content with having two courses in the lovely Quantocks Seb Rogers has added an Alps Course to the mix in sunny Les Arcs.
Would love to go on this one in 2010. Couldn’t think of a better place to ride and take pictures. Lots of other destinations and activities vying for attention but this sounds pretty good.
