A new challenge

So after a bit of idle chit chat with Ray the other day I think we’re going to aim to do the Dunwich Dynamo this year. I had wanted to do it last year but wasn’t fit enough. Only to add a bit more excitement we’re both going to ride it fixed gear. The route is around 126 miles I think so really do need to get some training in now and be happy doing at least 60 mile routes no problem. It ends with a dip in the sea. Most people take about 12 hours to do it – I think some padded shorts may well be in order for it.

And here’s an image of the route. Supposed to be almost flat with one or two hills towards the end.

Tonight is also Critical Mass in London so going to head along to that with a load of people from CF and LondonFGSS.

Guy Harris 40th BD

Sat night was the Guy Harris surprise party at the Tea Rooms in Shoreditch. Pretty expensive in there and had a few too many Bison Grass and apple juice. The bar only serves 50ml measures too which pretty much wrote off today.

Sifting through old photos

No posts for a while. Had Thursday and Friday off work due to this stomach bug and just relaxing today. Been sifting through some old photos in iPhoto today and deleting any crap I don’t need.

Found a few old ones from when I used to go climbing in Portsmouth in 2001 whilst i was finishing my degree. Would love to start climbing again but can’t seem to find the time or the motivation at the moment. There’s a load of equipment I’m not using too!

A few pics from the Southbank

Headed out for lunch to meet my Mum and then went for a ride along the Southbank. Got a few good pics and added them to Flickr here.

the joys of flickr

I’ve been looking more and more at flickr recently and been adding pics to my favourites. They have impressed me for one reason or another and I thought I would share them here for others to look at.. Each one I have added for a particular reason and I’ll list what I like about them by each pic.

This one is shot with an off camera flash which freezes all the action as well as turning the crest of the wave green. I love that diagonal line of the green and also the fact that it’s a very unusual shot and must have been quite hard to get.

This one of London Bridge is fantastic and I spotted it by accident after the recent foggy spell. I love the square format, the bright light in the top centre and also the fact that the supports to the edges are so well lit. It has a really interesting feel to it.

Back at work

Would rather not have been back at work this week but hey ho. Still trying to get Bermondsey in for planning and re-planning all the flats. Lots to do and Part 3 deadlines looming.

A few pics from this week out and about on the bike. Been trying to learn a bit more about the D70 and spent a lot of time at my Mum’s over Christmas reading up articles on the net. There’s a lot of info out there. I think I’m probably going to get my A-level photography books out again to read up on aperture, depth of field and all that.
