I’ve been looking at the new Olympus EP-1 for a few weeks and it seems to have been getting some good press. One day I’d like to own a Leica rangefinder but this looks it’s getting close in terms of quality. Some people have a few concerns in terms of speed of focus and shutter lag but it still looks like a very interesting digital rangefinder type of camera.
Anyway, they’ve got a great little marketing video.
I recently found a little web service that generates, and updates, a ‘most interesting’ set on Flickr. It’s always interesting to see how it’s changed each morning depending on who’s added what as a favourite or commented on them. Quite pleased with the fact that it is populated with a lot of very recent photos, hopefully that means I’m getting better!
Loving riding the fixed right now and feeling a bit fitter. 20 miles a day can’t be bad can it? Also the subject of today’s picture – Day 179. How time flies eh?
So after acquiring a new camera from eBay last week as well as a big bag of Fuji Films I went out on Sat morning before going to work.
I still can’t get out of the habit of checking the back of the camera for the image preview and histogram but I was starting to get it by shot 34. Really enjoyed using the camera and not knowing what was coming out.
I got the film done at Snappy Snaps below the office as they’re good guys in there. Just wanted to get it back quickly and see if any of the shots were ok? To my surprise there’s quite a few I like. The quality of the tones and also the texture from the film grain is incredible. A lovely quality to it. Will be shooting a fair few more rolls of this. A few of my favourites below…
Edit. Thanks to Richtea at singletrackworld.com for helping me sort out the spaces between the images! That’s been annoying me for quite some time now.
Sold a few bits and bobs on eBay this month so treated myself to a new (to me) Nikon F801 SLR. Film! Going to use this with the 28mm and 50mm prime lenses I have. A complete bargain at £20 plus P+P on eBay. I also managed to find 16 Fuji Superia films from ISO 200 – 1600 for £4.50! Gonna be fun playing around with this!
First impressions are that the view finder is enormous and clear compared to the D70. Very bright too. Autofocus is noisy but quick and the thing weighs a ton! Very solid bit of kit. Looking forward to getting a few rolls of film through this.
Caught myself taking a shot then looking at the back of the body for the histogram! Idiot. Got far too used to digital.
