Finally found a few spare moments to process a the rest of the holiday snaps from our trip to Portstewart a few weeks back. Nothing too earth shattering photography wise but some nice snaps for this months prints.
I can’t remember how I came across this link but it’s well worth sharing. It’s a collection of extraordinary images from the Second World war and the many factories used to manufacture aircraft and machinery, as well as some of the people and families involved in this process. The richness and colour is simply incredible. The original full collection of images & blog post (in Russian) also refers to the original source where many, many more can be found. I’ve featured a few of my favourites below.
They were all shot by Alfred Palmer.
Today, we used ours to meet and photograph 24 new people in central London.
What a superb little project. Lovely photos with simple stories describing a series of 24 strangers.

Finally something for my much loved photo service after years of languishing in the back room without much attention. Some of the changes are starting to roll out and hopefully more are coming in the next few days. Worth reading more about some of the changes planned.
Add this to the “places I want to ride at” list. Whilst it’s not in a beautiful forest with amazing views, it looks like a superb spot to spend a few hours on a warm evening just riding it until you get it dialled. It also look enormous and a real challenge to make it round, let alone with any sense of style or tweaks over the jumps. Some of our previous attempts at riding pump tracks have been fairly pathetic but I put that down to doing a 20k ride before. The setting next to the flyover kind of makes it too. A friend of mine lives in Bristol so hoping to make a trip soon.
It’s been captured superbly by Bristol photographer Adam Gasson.

Great to meet up with Jim, Aleks, Paula, Sally, Richard and Simon for another photo walk on Sat – this time we went to Hackney to have a wander around the perimeter of the Olympic site. We also all agreed to do an A4 print swap but more on that later. We spent more time drinking coffee and chatting than walking and snapping but that was fine with me.
Next location Brighton apparently! Can’t wait.
Snapped earlier today, the barbers a few doors down has closed leaving this strange series of mirrors. Perfect for a reflection shot!
My desk at home where I spend a lot of my time. Enjoying working with a pen tablet for Photoshop work now. Really good.
A beautiful sky over London last night. Quickly grabbed the Nikon and the 85mm. Not as sharp as I’d have liked though as I didn’t have time to set the tripod up. Also made the Londonist Sunday page which is nice.
Books in the office – inspiration.
Oh and of course lots and lots of lovely Instagramming as usual. So much pleasure from seeing things, snapping and sharing. Much love for Instagram.
One of the best things about Flickr is the community of other photographers that exists around it. This is the primary reason I’m still so addicted to it. Perhaps one of the best functions of this community is the ability to mark a photo as a favourite – add it to your library of things you like. I have a fairly large set of favourites, currently running at 4,144 photos so far!
For me one of the best ways of finding new and interesting work is by looking at another users favourites collection. It’s easy to go from user to user and find a bunch of incredible work to look at. It’s like a curated guide to Flickr.
It was my Birthday yesterday and as usual I took the day off work and Emma and I went for a wander around town. Emma bought me some of the Impossible Colour film for my Polaroid. It’s a bit of an expensive luxury and I definitely have a love hate feeling towards the stuff. Here’s two shots I took yesterday. They haven’t developed properly and the chemicals have started to blister but I quite like them – there’s something quite nice about the imperfections.
