Ooops

So, Thursday morning after seeing Cut Copy at the Scala, Emma and I got up as usual. Emma tried to have a shower but no water as they were digging up the road to replace the water main. No worries, I have a shower at work after the ride in.

Working away on my project when I get an email from Matt saying “The fire brigade just called me, the flat is flooded”… erm, excuse me? So rode home to see what was going on and this is what I find when I walk in…..

Could do with a spring clean

Ahh, erm. Well that’s the ceiling you can see on the floor. The water had come back on and jerked the shower head up, spraying it all over the floor for five hours.

The damage? Apart from the obvious lack of ceiling the list goes as follows, MacBook dead, two printers, airport extreme basestation, aiport express, sofa, table, chair, A3 printer, multifunction HP printer scanner thing, an external drive, 28″ TV, DVD player and surround sound box, speakers, hifi separates and lots of other bits and bobs.

No electricity in the flat for now and spent a few days mopping up and wiping down the dust and gunk. Got a dehumidfyer in there for now and hoping to go home tomorrow. Thank god for M+S insurance!

First published pictures

The April edition of ‘Living South’ Magazine had five or six of my images from the shoot at Witcomb Cycles in Deptford. Very pleased they used them. Will get some PDF’s of the article and host them.

Summer can’t be far….

Can it? Nice to be riding home in the daylight tonight and in a T-Shirt and shorts at last…

Summer can’t be that far away now….

Anyway, back to Part 3 assignments!

London Work

New job, new routine…

Two weeks in to the new job. Quite a change to my routine now, up earlier and cycling further to work which is good. Going from less than a mile to five miles and an earlier start certainly has taken its toll these last few weeks.

Hopefully a bit of base fitness will help me enjoy summer riding a bit more although I’m still finding it hard to get out riding on the mountain bikes at the moment.

An old pic reworked

Funny how if you go back to look at images you’ve taken you suddenly find a better shot than you thought you’d taken. I took this shot back in December down on the Southbank and couldn’t find the right crop at the time so left it out. Was playing around last night and I think the square format really works on this one. Trying to be more selective with what I post to flickr but this one is worth posting.

Tremors in London

Woke up last night to find the room wobbling a bit. Thought I was dreaming but turns out it was a tremor being felt across the UK.

No more pretty books

Popped up to the RIBA this morning to get a new book for my Part 3. The sad thing is that I had to walk past all the sexy books and magazines and go right to the back of the shop to to get this baby…

So that’s most of the weekend set aside to read all about project procurement, forms of contract and contractual arrangements! Oh joy.

The ride up there was a bit silly, lots of taxi’s doing U turns without indicating and generally people being a bit crazy on the roads.

Emma left for Seattle this morning on a business trip and Matt is away snowboarding so got the flat all to myself too. Hopefully squeeze in a ride round the Surrey Hills tomorrow.
