London | ghost bikes

I’ve seen a few of these bikes around recently but was pretty disturbed to see one appear on my route to work this morning. Don’t know what happened but it certainly makes you think!

Is one sausage not enough?

Was meant to go for a ride with Gary and Tim this morning. Felt a bit dodgy so stayed in. Felt a bit better later so Emma and I popped out to Cafe 2050 on Forest Hill Road. Nice to get out and get some fresh air. Got the papers and sat down with two coffees, a bacon sandwich and a sausage sandwich. £2.75 each. When they arrived there was one rasher of bacon spread over two bits of bread. Mine was even better, one sausage cut in two. What a total piss take! Didn’t pay for them, complained and left.

Emma asked what the deal was.. They didn’t seem to have a problem with it saying “Is one sausage not enough?”

Won’t be bothering with that one anymore. Not a great start to the day.

One sausage for £3.75?

Crap building

John Galsworthy Building, Kingston University.

I resumed my Part course at Kingston on Weds and after an hour or so of trying to find the actual lecture room we ended up in this building. Another bar code facade and with the most hideous internal layout I’ve seen. Dreadful. All the money obviously got spent on the facade.

I’m shocked that it got an RIBA award. Did the judges even go inside the building? As for the teaching spaces… well the lighting is dreadful, bog standard 600×600 ceiling tiles and lights so bad that they phyiscally hurt your eyes.

I’m so glad I don’t have to be at University full time anymore.

Cycle Safe London

Cycle Safe London.

Looks like some of the guys from londonfgss.com have set up a site monitoring all the bits of info about cycling in London and the dangers it poses to cyclists.

Some interesting if scary stuff on there.

Shake it like a Polaroid picture

Not much going on this weekend. Had a bit of a relaxed day yesterday and managed to get some more PEDR log sheets done this morning. Boring but hopefully it’ll finally get me my Part 3!

Went out for a bit of a wander this afternoon round the park to take a few pictures and get a drink. Ended up in the EDT for a few pints of Guinness. Emma took her new Polaroid camera out too. Emma took some great pictures which will be uploaded soon hopefully.

A wander, a gallery, a coffee and some pictures…

Popped out yesterday for a wander around town. Had a coffee at the ICA then went over to the National Portrait Gallery to see the Annie Leibovitz exhibtion. Really enjoyed her work but far too many people in the gallery to make viewing them a pleasurable experience. Took a few pics before and after and went home for a lovely roast chicken. Still no lights in the flat. Great.

Tooting, Wimbeldon, Richmond

Just got back from a 45 mile road ride with Gary. Over to Tooting, then Wimbledon and two laps of the park before heading home to meet the landlord. Possibly the coldest ride I have ever been on. The cold air was getting in to my feet via the vent at the front and numbing the whole of my feet. Time for a pair of winter shoes or some thicker socks!
