Battered and bruised

Coming to the end of the week in Scotland with Vaughan, Matt and Gavin. Did the Glentress Black route today along with an hour or so in the freeride park practicing clearing table top jumps. Also did a few shuttles on the singletrack descent on the blue route which was superb.

Few bruises and generally pretty tired. Back home tomorrow for a well earned rest.

The Peaks

Did a fantastic ride around Ladybower Reservoir today in the Peak District. Some incredible scenery and riding. Fantastic weather too. Just in the van to our cottage in Peebles. A long day today nut less driving tomorrow when we head to Glentress to do the red and black routes.

End of the summer

Not that the summer really started this year but this morning was pretty nippy. Had to wear a thin fleece on the way to work. Ah well, hopefully lots of nice chilly winter rides coming up.

Away next week but moving in to a new flat with Emma the following week. Should be a busy weekend but well worth it. Looking forward to finally not sharing a flat. Happy days.

Rain rain rain rain…. Now with pictures

After six days of pretty much non stop rain Emma and I decided that camping in Cornwall should be cut short. Drove back to Bath to dry out our stuff and relax in the garden before driving back to London later today.

Hopefully get a ride in instead this weekend too.

Northern Ireland [updated]

Last weekend I got the chance to go to Northern Ireland with Emma. Wasn’t sure what to expect really but had a great time. We spent one evening in Belfast and then went up to Portstewart where Emma grew up.

Belfast is a great city but seems to have a lot of empty sites around. It feels like it needs stitching together. By far the best place we went to was The Crown. We then got the train up to Coleraine and then a taxi to our B+B in Portstewart.

The weather changes so quick around this area. I guess being on the North Coast of Ireland might have something to do with it. We finally managed to get out for a walk along the Strand. The strand is the long beach in Portstewart but we didn’t get very far as the rain came in again. We found solace in pints of Guiness and glasses of Bushmills!

Next day was more sightseeing and walking and also a trip to the Giants Causeway. It’s an incredibly small section of rock but still very impressive. The walk around the top of the cliffs was great. Incredible weather and then the rain came in again within the space of five mins.

All of my pics are here on flickr as usual. Emma also took a few photos which are also on flickr.

Walk along by the seaGate

I think Emma spent most of her weekend looking at this kind of thing.. :-)

Hopefully we’ll be going back soon to stay with Emma’s Dad in Donegal and see some more of the North coast of Ireland.

Sunny Ireland

Just flown back from sunny Northern Ireland with Emma. Fantastic! Had no idea what to expect but loved it. The scenery is out of this world..

Starting to sort the photos now and gradually edit them and upload them to flickr. Only 425 to go!

Another stunning view
