BBC NEWS | Business | Unusual ways to make money

A friend of Vaughan and Eddie runs a great little pub called The Marksman. They have had some great ideas about getting a bartering system going in the pub.

Domestic bliss

Domestic bliss, originally uploaded by cephal0pod.

This weekend we went camping in Wales. The family tent got an outing for a few nights. We arrived on Friday night after a long drive. It rained all the way and then suddenly stopped. A bit damp underfoot but we managed to get the tent up, a few beers down and some sleep in.

Next day up for a cracking breakfast and served on the largest piece of bread I have ever seen! Matt and Graham arrived after and we faffed for a whole before setting off for the W2 trail. It certainly felt epic and by the time we got back all of us were pretty worn out. That climb from the bottom of the Wall trail is a real killer! Some beers, some dinner, a sleep, a shower, some more dinner, mountainbike DVD’s in the cafe and lots more beer later it was time for bed.

Up the next day for more enormous breakfast then off to Brechfa. A slightly longer journey than planned but headed round the blue trai. A bit like a big BMX track really and a little too manicured for me but worth going back for the red I reckon.

It was pretty good staying on site for a change rather than going to a B+B nearby. That cafe rocks!

Objectified

, originally uploaded by Dyntr.

Last Thursday I went to the UK showing of Objectified at the Curzon in Chelsea. Unfortunately Emma was ill so I went with Neil in the end. Great film about design with some real characters in there.

The questions session with Jonathon Ive at the end was superb though. I don’t think I’ve ever seen quite so many iPhones in one location though!

Welsh wales..

Off with Matt, Vaughan, Graham, Rodderz, Gav and Butch (not his real name) to Afan this coming weekend. Timed to avoid the Bank Holiday rush! Will probably do the W2 trail and then pop back to the top to do the final descent on Skyline as well as annoying everyone by asking them to ride the same section 9 times.

Hopefully it’ll be a bit clearer than this…

Back in the West Country

Back in the West Country for the weekend. The usual bit of gardening to help mum out, taking pictures of the cat and taking dad’s dog for a walk. Bit of a road ride tomorrow and then back to London for another ride on Sunday.

Day 66 of 365

Day 66 of 365, originally uploaded by Andy*Matthews.

It’s rare to get a decent picture of Emma! She really doesn’t like her picture taken at the best of times. I really like this one. It came about completely by accident as I was focusing on something completely different and swung round to capture this. I really love the strong light on the side of her face and the glasses. The wind capturing the hair is an added bonus too and helps break up that big chunk of grey to the left of the frame.

Gav

Gav was here to stay this weekend. Didn’t get to spend as much time as hoped as I had to work late on Friday. Had a bit of a gentle ride round Swinley Forest on the Sat with Dango then back to London.

Tried out my new el-cheapo shoot thru umbrella out on him. Pretty pleased with the results.

Shake it like a Polaroid picture

Not much going on this weekend. Had a bit of a relaxed day yesterday and managed to get some more PEDR log sheets done this morning. Boring but hopefully it’ll finally get me my Part 3!

Went out for a bit of a wander this afternoon round the park to take a few pictures and get a drink. Ended up in the EDT for a few pints of Guinness. Emma took her new Polaroid camera out too. Emma took some great pictures which will be uploaded soon hopefully.

Doggie walking

Last weekend we headed up to Pampisford near Cambridge to see Emma’s Mum. Lots of great food and also plenty of fun to be had with the completely mental dog.

Also headed in to Cambridge on the bus to have a look round and also had a look at the Christ’s Lane development I worked on for two long years at Panter Hudspith. Looks good. Funny seeing it finished after looking at all those drawings for so long.
