Alex Breton Consultants

Somehow this firm of stupid recruitment consultants managed to get hold of my details. After a few phone calls asking if I wanted a job I asked to be removed from their contact database. Still more emails.. Then I asked again and got a very polite reply from a lady who had originally called me, which I thought would be the end of it… Unfortunately not. More emails from them. It would be ok if the emails were a little more carefully phrased or even a little creative, but the tripe they come out with is utter rubbish!

4th time lucky being removed from their database. What a bunch of chancers.

Dear All

I think we are all feeling the way the market is at the moment – However we still have jobs on Health Care, Education, Rail and today I picked up a job on Aviation – so in short Public Funded projects.

If you are interested in Healthcare, Education, Rail or Aviation projects, then please get in touch, as clients / companies are letting people go what seems to be at a very rapid pace within Housing, residential, mixed use and retail sectors.

I dont believe we need to panic – but if you are feeling the heat and want to secure something else then send me an upto date cv with samples – but you must remember it will be put forward for the above projects.  Obviously if you have relevant sector experience then it would be easier….

I hope to hear from you all

Kind regards

Alex Breton Consultants

Anyway, I’m very happy in my current job! I wonder if their clients know how much they pester people?

Update: So I poked around their website a bit and they even have a recommend a friend section! Woo. Sounds like they’re desperate for work.

Not sure if this was the kind of service they were suggesting when they wrote this? ..prides our self in offering a very different approach to the common problems faced within the industry

For info. If you want to get a job in architecture through a recruitment consultants – use RIBA Appointments!

No more pretty books

Popped up to the RIBA this morning to get a new book for my Part 3. The sad thing is that I had to walk past all the sexy books and magazines and go right to the back of the shop to to get this baby…

So that’s most of the weekend set aside to read all about project procurement, forms of contract and contractual arrangements! Oh joy.

The ride up there was a bit silly, lots of taxi’s doing U turns without indicating and generally people being a bit crazy on the roads.

Emma left for Seattle this morning on a business trip and Matt is away snowboarding so got the flat all to myself too. Hopefully squeeze in a ride round the Surrey Hills tomorrow.

Bermondsey Square

Grabbed this photo earlier today whilst down on site. Ominous sky and like the way the woman is standing there patiently waiting for the traffic. Made up of around 8 images as I only had the 50mm lens with me.

more sleep required

1 hours sleep last night after staying up working on Paper 6 for Part 3.

Still only 3 more papers to go and then the case study, oh and 3 years worth of log sheets to do. Roll on September when it’s all over.

Just need to survive a day at work first.

Amsterdam weekend

Just got back from a weekend in Amsterdam with work. Stayed in the amazing Lloyd Hotel in one of the MVRDV designed rooms. The room was similar to this one.

Took over 300 pics but edited it down to these 50 images.

Another assignment done

Part 3, Paper 4 just going in. 4.30am, just finished. Not sure whether it’s worth going to sleep or not really?

All this just so I can get sued by clients and stick another £3-5 on my salary :-(

Update: Finished work, walked home and snapped my key in the lock! Spent two hours at Waterloo waiting for the first train to Kingston to hand in my assignment. Zombie time. Great fun hanging around with the tramps and the cleaning staff at Waterloo.
