The Shining
In my quest to catch up on all the decent films I’ve missed to date I’ve been steadily watching some great film thanks to Jane and Emma – my film mentors. A few weekends ago it was The Lost Boys and yesterday it was The Shining. Jane bought me the Kubrick box set for my 30th so there’s a few more to see in there.
Well, The Shining summed up in one word – terrifying! Really impressive camera work and the music really does kick it all up a notch. Jack Nicholson really is impressive in it, he always seems to manage to do the crazy characters down to a T. I dread to think what he’s like in real life. It’s obviously open to interpretation as to what is going on and the meaning of some scenes but I like that. No hand holding from the director in this one. It was pretty edgy watching it at home but I dread to think what it would have been like at the cinema with a decent sound system.
Anyway, here’s a hilarious remix as a new less scary version of the film trailer.
