Saw this shot from the top of the 63 bus on the way to work earlier whilst it stopped outside Peckham Rye Station. Definitely had a mild panic trying and get the iPhone camera to work quick enough to grab the shot before the scene changed / bus drove off.

Birthday Polaroids

It was my Birthday yesterday and as usual I took the day off work and Emma and I went for a wander around town. Emma bought me some of the Impossible Colour film for my Polaroid. It’s a bit of an expensive luxury and I definitely have a love hate feeling towards the stuff. Here’s two shots I took yesterday. They haven’t developed properly and the chemicals have started to blister but I quite like them – there’s something quite nice about the imperfections.

Sat, Emma, Eddie, art, drinks

Sat seems to be my only day off at the moment so has becoming fairly precious. Not much photography but working hard on a project at work and been in every Sunday for at least six or so weeks so I’m trying tomake sure I actually do something rather than just sleep or look at the internet. Hopefully its all over now (after Thursday night) and I can start to get my life back a bit.

So we went into town to quickly grab a look at the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize at the National Portrait gallery. I’m still amazed that it’s another ginger girl with ginger animal. It’s getting beyond a cliche now. At least there weren’t any massive vaginas to stand in front of this year. It was set in a tiny gallery and rammed with people which made the whole experience pretty grim. Maybe I’ll go back during the week sometime. I really liked a couple of the shots but I was pretty disappointed with some of them. I guess I’m not a photography critic though.

After that we headed out to the Royal Academy with the aim of seeing the Russian Constructivist exhibition – again too many people with a massive queue. So we had a look at the Tatlin’s Tower in the courtyard and then went to the ICA for a couple of drinks. Good chats with Ed and Emma and then home. All good.

Looking out of the bus window – A view on London

I never used to be a bus person until someone taught me the error of my ways (when not on my bike of course). Always the top deck, always the left hand window seat, always looking around and seeing what’s going on – silently observing the world going on below you.

This experience is perfectly summarised by the below video (via Michal Dzierza). The child playing, the guy arguing on the phone with someone, the accident that everyone cranes their neck for, road works, cyclists, tourists, landmarks, the crazy guy, the gaggle of school kids – it’s all there. Beautifully shot & edited from 30 hours of footage. A lovely feel to it – watch in HD!

Southbank Photowalk

Had a lovely walk around the Southbank yesterday courtesy of Brighton Jim. We also had the pleasure of being joined by Aleks and Sally who I’d never met before – only conversed with on Twitter. After some initial hassle from security, which I’ll go into another time, we had a great walk around just pausing to take pics whenever it took our fancy. A quick pint a lunch where the conversation ranged from the nerdy to the creative and back again, then further along to the Tate Modern. Another glorious autumn day with that golden sunshine I’m so fond of and I shot a lot more pics than I’d imagined. Rather than stagger them and upload bit by bit on Flickr I’ve just uploaded them all for now.

A few of my favourites are below. The usual mix of shadows angles and the odd person but hey, why deviate.

Peckham Park on a sunny Sat

Popped out briefly yesterday for a walk around the park rather than sit in front of the computer and edit photos. Nice to get some fresh air at last. We went for a bit of a stroll then relaxed at the cafe in the middle of Peckham Rye Park for a bit. Glorious sunshine and we just sat there watching the world go by with our coffee. So nice having the sun on my back and occasionally taking a photo. Also great to use my camera for pleasure rather than business.

France trip 2011 Another year, another trip to France. What an amazing spot!...
